My Short Skirt
From The Vagina Monologues
By Eve Ensler

My short skirt is not an invitation
a provocation

an indication
that I want it
or give it
or that I hook.

My short skirt
is not begging for it
it does not want you
to rip it off me
or pull it down.

My short skirt
is not a legal reason
for raping me
although it has been before
it will not hold up
in the new court.

My short skirt, believe it or not
has nothing to do with you.

My short skirt
is about discovering
the power of my lower calves
about cool autumn air traveling
up my inner thighs
about allowing everything I see
or pass or feel to live inside.

My short skirt is not proof
that I am stupid
or undecided
or a malleable little girl.

My short skirt is my defiance
I will not let you make me afraid
My short skirt is not showing off
this is who I am
before you made me cover it
or tone it down.
Get used to it.

My short skirt is happiness
I can feel myself on the ground.
I am here. I am hot.

My short skirt is a liberation
flag in the women's army
I declare these streets, any streets
my vagina's country.

My short skirt
is turquoise water
with swimming colored fish
a summer festival
in the starry dark
a bird calling
a train arriving in a foreign town
my short skirt is a wild spin
a full breath
a tango dip
my short skirt is
initiation
appreciation
excitation.

But mainly my short skirt
and everything under it
is Mine.
Mine.
Mine.

Home
Michael Buble

Another summer day
Has come and gone away
In Paris and Rome
But I wanna go home
Mmmmmmmm

Maybe surrounded by
A million people I
Still feel all alone
I just wanna go home
Babe I miss you, you know

And I’ve been keeping all the letters that I wrote to you
Each one a line or two
“I’m fine baby, how are you?”
Well I would send them but I know that it’s just not enough
My words were cold and flat
And you deserve more than that

Another aeroplane
Another sunny place
I’m lucky I know
But I wanna go home
Mmmm, I’ve got to go home

Let me go home
'Cause I’m just too far from where you are
I wanna come home

And I feel just like I’m living someone else’s life
It’s like I just stepped outside
When everything was going right
And I know just why you could not
Come along with me
That this is not your dream
But you always believed in me

Another winter day has come
And gone away
In even Paris and Rome
And I wanna go home
Let me go home

And I’m surrounded by
A million people I
Still feel all alone
Oh, let me go home
Oh, I miss you, you know

Let me go home
I’ve had my run
Baby, I’m done
I gotta go home
Let me go home
It will all be all right
I’ll be home tonight
I’m coming back home

The World Is Flat [Updated and Expanded]: A Brief History of the Twenty-first Century
By Thomas L. Friedman

Hello all. It has been awhile since I last updated, and this will probably be my last post for a while. I may still post my thoughts or frustrations once in a while, but if you are interested in finding things out about my doings in Italy check out my other blog www.xanga.com/when_in_rome_2006.

Everything is coming together now for my departure - I can't believe this is all about to happen. I finished my shopping yesterday and now I just need to finish packing, say goodbye to a couple more people, and finish reading the world is flat, among a few more things. (By the way, I highly recommend The World is Flat, everyone should read it. A very interesting book, I learned so much about the world and changes that havebeen going on for years or are about to start happening. An excellent read for every interest, especially world topics and technology.)

So I guess this is goodbye for now. Take care and keep in touch. I will see you on the other side!

have any of you ever heard of handel's ice cream? well its good stuff. in fact, it was voted the number one ice cream in the world by the writers of "the 10 best of everything." it really is some of the best ice cream i have ever had. there are locations all throughout ohio, some in pennsylvania, indiana, and one in virginia & california.
oh, and other ice creameries on the list were some in massachusetts, italy, cuba, france, california, and then cold stone was #7 or 8 and haagen daas was #10.

i really recommend checking them out, they are incredible and open year round. go to http://www.handelsicecream.com/home/index.html for more info.  (and no, i am not a walking commercial for them, i just think this perfection of ice cream should be shared and enjoyed :)

Always There in You
Valli Girls - Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

Baby girl, close your eyes.
You don’t know the strength you have inside
If I could I'd shelter you from all the pain that we all must go through
But it’s up to you.

The road is long – it twists and turns
But everything in life you live and learn
No one ever said that life was easy or that all in love is fair
But look inside your heart you’ll find the answer waiting there

If you ever lose your way
You don’t have to be afraid
Look inside to find a friend
Who’ll be with you ‘til the end
Many different roads to choose
Searching for the strength to make it through
But it was always there in you

Hopes can fail and dreams can fade
Rain can fall down on your big parade
Maybe love will take your heart or break your heart
There are no guarantees
But love will always find you when you just believe

If you ever lose your way
You don’t have to be afraid
Look inside to find a friend
Who’ll be with you ‘til the end
Many different roads to choose
Searching for the strength to make it through
But it was always there in you

The strength you’re longing to find
You know it’s true
It was there all the time
If you stand stronger, work harder, reach for the sky
I know you will eventually fly

If you ever lose your way
You don’t have to be afraid
Look inside to find a friend
Who’ll be with you ‘til the end
Many different roads to choose
Searching for the strength to make it through
But it was always there
It was always there
It was always there…in you.
